Useful advice starts with honest limits.

Our goal is to help you decide whether an upgrade solves a problem you can actually notice. Keeping a PC that meets your needs is a successful result.

What the analyzer does

It runs local, deterministic rules using your selected hardware, memory capacity, storage type, resolution, refresh rate and reported problem. It suggests what to investigate and offers catalog examples when the inputs support them.

It does not run a benchmark, inspect your computer, use an AI model, check current retailer inventory or predict FPS. Free-text game names do not connect to game-specific performance data. Productivity and streaming need application-specific measurements.

What the scores mean

CPU and GPU scores are approximate editorial tiers. They are ordinal: a score of 80 does not mean twice the performance of 40. CPU and GPU numbers are not directly comparable benchmark units. Memory and storage scores describe capacity and class, not measured speed or health.

We screen CPU/GPU examples for at least 12 catalog points above the current part. This is a conservative editorial filter, not a percentage gain. GPU examples do not reduce known VRAM. The catalog is incomplete and its tiers have not been validated against a current, reproducible benchmark suite.

Unknown models receive a neutral placeholder in the workbench and cannot support a specific CPU/GPU purchase recommendation. Power suitability is unverified unless a manufacturer reference is available; even then it is not a PSU safety rating.

Verify the problem before buying

  1. Choose one repeatable scene or task. Write down resolution, settings, FPS target and what feels wrong.
  2. Record FPS and frame times, GPU utilization, per-core CPU activity, temperatures and memory use.
  3. Repeat with lower render resolution. A large FPS improvement supports investigating a GPU limit. Little change calls for checking CPU limits, caps, engine behavior and thermals.
  4. For stutters, check memory pressure and background tasks. For loading delays, check the drive containing the actual game or application.
  5. Compare independent benchmarks using the same game, settings and rendering mode. Include motherboard, cooling, PSU and delivery costs when comparing an upgrade with keeping your system.

Compatibility is a separate check

A matching CPU socket does not guarantee motherboard support. Check the board maker’s CPU support list, required BIOS, memory support and cooling. For a graphics card, check the exact model’s dimensions, power requirements and connectors. M.2 storage requires a supported slot and protocol.

The builder chooses from three preset gaming templates using budget and resolution keywords. It cannot satisfy arbitrary requirements or guarantee the basket fits a stated budget. Prices, cooling, case fans, operating system and peripherals must be checked separately.

Commission does not enter the analyzer’s ranking rules. We do not receive Amazon purchase details through our click tracking. When you allow analytics, we measure page visits, tool completion and outbound clicks to understand which advice is useful.

Guides are editorial explainers, not evidence that we tested the pictured hardware. Time-sensitive claims need dated sources; content awaiting verification is excluded from the guide listing and sitemap.
